We all have different DNAs, different skin tones, skin types, and preferences, but having good skin does not only depend on that. I was introduced to skincare at the beginning of high school. That was the first time I felt the overwhelming experience of others looking so great and taking so much care of themselves, and there was me, knowing literally nothing about skincare. If facial routines were not known or neglected in your family, then you probably experienced what I just talked about. At this point, I didn’t really know where to start, but fortunately nowadays we can do our research on skincare anytime. However, before my realization, I never noticed people around me who were into routines by that time, and I never thought about learning so much about themselves. If you do not have your specific routine yet, but you want to know more and boost your knowledge of available products, talk to a friend or family member who is more experienced than you are. In my own experience, talking to my sister, who was actually a pro on skin stuff, helped me figure out my skin type and what kind of products could be useful for me. If you do not really have someone like her around you, do not panic. There are multiple tests, articles, and videos on the internet to help you find your way to gorgeous skin.
Over the years, I came to learn so much about myself and my body through skincare, so that is why I think these routines twice a day are an efficient way to take time for yourself, wind down a little bit, and just relax. There are endless products and websites to help you find what works for you. It is probably going to be a long road to find your best skin, but I am telling you it is worth it!
After six years of doing my skincare, this is the first time I feel and see the change it made and how everything I use finally works for me. At the moment, I am doing a milk-based cleanser in the morning, following up with hyaluronic acid, SPF, and a daily moisturizer, which just preps my skin for makeup, sunshine, and a long day. To celebrate my productivity, in the evening, I do a longer routine, while I sometimes put some music or a podcast on. I do double cleansing, niacinamide acid, hyaluronic acid, and an argan oil serum. On top of that, I use my daily moisturizer and do a little face-rolling. My favorite brands at the moment are Revox, Geek and Gorgeous, and Fenty Skin. The first two brands are super affordable; you can get them in stores and online as well.
In summary, I want to emphasize the fact that you have to be consistent when it comes to skincare. Even if you are not in the mood or you are super exhausted, take your 5 minutes, and I guarantee that your skin will thank you later. Using the right products and taking care of your facials can actually save you money for years and years later, when you may want to use Botox. Preparing and nourishing your skin every day will bring results, and your skin can bloom even as you grow older without any artificial intervention.
